WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This prayer meeting is open to anyone from any church. We are inviting anyone who has been to Cambodia, has an interest in Cambodia, hoping to go one day either short term or long term or who God has just put a burden to learn more and pray about the country and its people.

OBJECTIVES
My pastor once said ‘the world does not need broader people, it needs deeper people!’
To that end, our purpose is to:

1. To fuel the passion or burden God has put in peoples hearts for Cambodia by providing an opportunity for them to gain greater insights into some of the challenges that missionaries face because of the cultural dynamics and history of the country. As such, people will be encouraged to read some of the books on Cambodia and share their insights (ie: Tears of My Soul by Reaksa Himm, Killing Fields, Living Fields by Don Cormack)

2. Praying for various missionaries serving in Cambodia, ministries as well as partner agencies of the Ratanak Foundation

3. To build foundation and to give greater depth to that ‘burden’ that has been deposited in our hearts. In essence it is like a ‘training class’ that we trust will fuel interest in Cambodia, raise up prayer warriors and mobilizers on the home side, prepare people for future short term trips or long term involvement in Cambodia, raise up leaders who eventually would be leading future short term teams

4. To empower individuals to step out of their comfort zones and pursue all that Christ has for them as they seek to be part of God’s World Christian Team!

Here is an excerpt from Lisa Cheong’s newsletter… to give you a glimpse of the birth of this praying ministry for Cambodia’s issues on human trafficking.
The VISION
This past December, our senior pastor Sunder Krishnan preached a message at Urbana called Pray Big, Pray Bold! (here’s a link to the message: http://vimeo.com/8467883 ) I was inspired by a particular testimony he gave of a persecuted pastor in Vietnam that he had been praying for for years. This past summer, he discovered his prayers being answered when he heard that pastor was released and many of the prayers that he had been praying over the years were exactly what had happened to this man while he was in prison. With that in mind, I was sitting in church on January 2nd when I felt the Lord speak the following words to me: ‘why not pray big and pray bold for Cambodia and see what I will do.’ And so Marty Prasad, a fellow team member from our Rexdale Alliance Cambodia team of last summer and I have felt led to begin monthly prayer meetings.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
These monthly prayer meetings will be facilitated by 5 different people who are chairing the meetings on a rotational basis. The team consist of: Charlene Pollock, Jan Henderson, Ruby Sawh, Marty Prasad, and myself.

ABC’s Nightline will feature a story on sex trafficking in Cambodia that is expected to air on September 16th, 2009 with two follow-up pieces for the evening news in the days thereafter. One of the follow-up stories will feature a girl called ‘Bella’ from the NEWSONG CENTRE which is run by our partners AIM4ASIA in Cambodia. We hope you will be able to watch the broadcasts. For some of you who are not familiar with the NEWSONG CENTRE, this is a rehabilitation centre that cares for the ‘worst’ of the ‘worst’ in terms of young girls who have been sexually abused and tortured. The goal is to see these girls be completed rehabilitated, restored and reintegrated back into society through intensive counseling, and through equipping them with the skills and education they will need in order to fulfill their God given destiny. The mission trip led by Lisa Cheong from Ratanak Foundation has gone and come back a month ago. Even though we did not have people from our community going this year, they are part of the ministries that Mosaic community has been supporting, not only financially, but hopefully spiritually, prayerfully and in action.

Camp Eulogia is a summer family retreat for children 6-16 with developmental disabilities and their parents and siblings aged between 6-16.

Cost (based on 2006): $2500-3000 USD / person for 3 weeks in high season (July – October)

- $1750 air fare

- Accomodation: $25 / avg. room for 2-4 ppl, $35 for deluxe room

- Tourist visa $20, Exit visa $20

- Average meal $2-3 -> $20 per daily meals

- Transportation: Van/Charter/Totuk? (local transportation vehicle)

Daily life schedule: 5am – 9pm

Security: Average, may see drunkard on street, country allow possession of firearms

2. Mission Trip Opportunities

Project-based trip (e.g. potential partnering with Daughters), some examples are:

- Teaching of lifeskills such as musical instrument

- Set up business/accounting

- Basic computer skills

- Teaching English

- Soccer

In the meantime, you can continue to discern God’s will by preparing your heart/mind:

1) Book study personally or in life groups to increase understanding on sex trafficking, Cambodia’s political & historical situation

2) Sign up for newsletter for specific group we support, use Mosaic website as media

3) Regular Sunday worship prayer time to bring updates & prayer for this issue and/or country
